TO CONDUCT BACKGROUND CHECKS
ON ALL APPLICANTS

Houston, TX - July 18, 2006 - CORESTAFF Services is the first staffing agency in the United States to make candidate background checking a part of our systematic applicant process. Our process, Associate Check Screen (ACS), provides comprehensive background and drug screening services for CORESTAFF’s clients.

Utilizing an ever-growing criminal database from American Background Information Services that provides access to more than 195 million criminal records in 48 states from Administrators of Court and Departments of Corrections, CORESTAFF conducts pre-screening on all applicants at no charge to the client. This pre-screening search offers CORESTAFF the broadest-available, most cost efficient geographic net by which potential criminal information can be caught and verified. Additionally, clients can purchase more comprehensive background and drug screening services. Background checking experts interpret results based on standardized hiring criteria.

While the number of background checks nationwide are on the rise, most companies have not incorporated this step into their recruiting and hiring processes. Currently, eight percent of CORESTAFF’s applicants processed through ACS are given a “fail” score. Of applicants who pass this first screen, an additional 12 percent fail the more extensive client-requested screening. According to ADP, nearly half of the 4.9 million background checks they conducted in 2005 revealed inconsistencies in education, employment and credential verifications with what the applicant reported, underscoring the value of background screening processes.
