ACCOUNTS PAYABLE

PRIMARY PURPOSE:

Under the general direction of the Controller, responsible for the operation and management the accounts payable function. This role is integral to the business operations of the organization to ensure timeliness and accuracy of all corporate disbursements in accordance with internal controls and corporate policies. Proactively maintains strong business relationships with internal and external customers. Familiar with a variety of accounting concepts, practices, and procedures. Relies on extensive experience and judgment to plan and accomplish goals.

JOB DUTIES:

30% Prepares accurate and timely payments for employees and vendors, monthly reconciliation and payment of corporate credit card transactions, and payment of time-sensitive regulatory and financial obligations.

40% Responsible for day-to-day payable operations including invoice data entry and resolution processes for business units and vendors.

15% Develops and reviews financial data for reporting purposes and for month-end close. Publishes the month-end close calendar and prepares the monthly accruals.

15% Coordinates cash management activities with Treasury.

JOB QUALIFICATIONS:

Level of Education and Discipline:

May include specialized or vocational courses in Accounting, Payroll, Purchasing or related field. Associate or Bachelor's degree preferred.

Amount of Experience:

Three or more years related experience.

Certifications:

None

Type of Experience

Experience working in a corporate accounting environment performing account reconciliations and analysis. Knowledge of accounts receivable, accounts payable and general ledger account reconciliation practices. Experience in accounting or finance processes and procedures. Business report writing experience highly desired. Oracle financial systems experience strongly preferred. Experience in the electric utility industry desired.

Additional Skills and Abilities:

Demonstrated proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite, including Outlook, Word, PowerPoint, Access and Excel. Must be able to work effectively in a team environment as a facilitator and team member. Must be able to prioritize and multi-task effectively in a fast-paced, dynamic and changing work environment, and work well independently. Strong analytical and verbal and written communication skills required. Self-motivated, problem solving skills and the ability to influence others without direct authority. Must be highly detail oriented
